The Site is located approximately 8.6km west of Moniaive, 11km east of Carsphairn on land adjacent to the B729. The Site is characterised by commercial coniferous woodland.
The proposal would comprise up to seven turbines with a maximum tip height of 200m and a maximum electrical output of up to 50MW. Other infrastructure associate with the wind farm includes: transformers at the base of each turbine, onsite tracks, substation and control room
The Proposed Development would be operational for a 35 year period after which the development would be decommissioned and the land returned to previous use, unless the landowner requests continued use of tracks and pads which would be subject to agreement with Dumfries & Galloway Council.
Planning permission was granted for Cornharrow Wind Farm at appeal on 1 June 2021 (references 20/0159/FUL and PPA-170-2145) for eight turbines at 149.9m to tip and associated infrastructure.
A subsequent application was granted permission at appeal on 6 July 2022 (references 21/1766/S42 and PPA-170-2160) which removed one turbine and increased the tip height of the remaining seven turbines to 180m to tip.
A further application was granted permission at appeal on 14 February 2024 (references 22/2486/S42 and PPA-170-2177) Β to increase the consented tip height of the seven turbines from 180m to 200m and amend the turbine positions.
