A wind farm proposal of up to 7 wind turbines, giving a capacity of up to 50MW depending on the turbine model chosen for the development. The site centre is located approximately 4km north-west of Corsock.
There have been two recent planning applications for a wind farm at Garcrogo.
The first application was dismissed at appeal in August 2022 for up to 9 turbines, with an overall height from base to tip of 200 metres. This was dismissed on landscape and visual grounds, principally due to the perceived height of the turbines.
The second application consisted of up to 9 wind turbines reduced in height to 180 metres. Post-submission, two turbines were removed from the scheme, meaning the decision was based on a scheme of up to 7 turbines with an overall height from base to tip of 180 metres.
The second application was dismissed at appeal in March 2024 due to a lack of sufficient information relating to two additional requirements from recently updated national planning policy (referred to as βNPF4β). These related to peat disturbance and biodiversity enhancements respectively. On all other grounds, the application was considered to be acceptable.
Energiekontor has now submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to Dumfries and Galloway Council for a new application relating to up to 7 wind turbines, including associated development such as crane pads, access tracks, a substation and temporary construction compound.
In advance of its upcoming application for up to 7 turbines, Energiekontor will be holding two physical public events at Corsock Village Hall. This will be an opportunity to inform the local community of the project’s progress and answer any questions.
The first public event was held at Corsock Village Hall on Wednesday 19th June 2024.
The second public event will be held at Corsock Village Hall on Wednesday 27th November 2024, 3:00pm to 6:30pm. If you are unable to make this event, copies of the exhibition boards will be made available on the right sidebar of this project page.
We would be grateful for any comments or questions from the public on our proposals. Any person wishing to make comments may do so by contacting the project manager Alistair Peet atΒ alistair.peet@energiekontor.com by 18th December 2024. Comments submitted are not representations to the Planning Authority (Dumfries and Galloway Council), however any comments received before this date will be considered as part of the Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Report that would accompany the upcoming application. There will be an opportunity to make representations on the application to the planning authority when an application is submitted.
