Energiekontor submitted an application to the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit (ECU) under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 in November 2024. This application seeks consent to construct and operate a wind farm on land at Glenvernoch, approximately 7km north west of Newton Stewart, Dumfries and Galloway. The proposed wind farm has a generating capacity of around 86MW, comprising 13 wind turbines with a ground to blade tip height of up to 200 metres and associated infrastructure.
The application was referred to the Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA) in Autumn of 2025 following an objection raised by Dumfries & Galloway Council. As such, a Public Local Inquiry (PLI) for the proposed development will be taking place on week commencing 29th June 2026 at McMillan Hall in Newton Stewart.
Copies of documents for the full Section 36 application, Additional Information supporting the original EIA report, and further Additional Information that was submitted in Spring 2026 regarding assessment on the grid connection for the proposed development, are available to download below.
