Project Description

The proposed Meall Dearg Wind Farm is located on land north of Amulree, approximately 6km south of Aberfeldy and 11km west of Dunkeld, in the Perth and Kinross Council area. The proposal is for up to 21 turbines with an overall capacity of up to 147MW and a variable maximum tip height of 200-250m.

As the proposed energy generation output is greater than 50MW, consent will be sought by Scottish Ministers under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989, via the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit (ECU).

A Scoping Report was submitted to the ECU in December 2024. The ECU issued their Scoping Opinion in April 2025, outlining the scope and level of detail of information to be provided in the EIA report.

An application was made to Scottish Ministers on 11th August 2025. The EIA Report is available to view on the attachments to this page, or at www.energyconsents.scot under application reference ECU00006049.

Consultation

The first public exhibition for Meall Dearg Wind Farm was held on 19th March 2025 at Aberfeldy Town Hall. A further public exhibition was held on 2nd July 2025 at Birnam Arts Centre, Dunkeld, which provided further details, information and visualisations of the final proposal submitted to the ECU. Comments submitted during pre-application consultation have been considered as part of the Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Report that accompanies the application.

We would be grateful for any comments or questions from the public on our proposals. Any representations on the application may be submitted by email to the Scottish Government via representations@gov.scot; or by post to the Scottish Government, Energy Consents Unit, 4th Floor, 5 Atlantic Quay, 150 Broomielaw, Glasgow, G2 8LU, identifying the proposal and specifying the grounds for representation.

Written or emailed representations should be dated, clearly stating the name (in block capitals) and full postal address of those making representations. Emailed representations should also include the full return email address of those making representations. Only representations sent by email to representations@gov.scot will receive acknowledgement. All representations should be received not later than 24th September 2025, although Ministers may consider representations received after this date.

Any person wishing to make separate queries may do so by contacting the project manager Alistair Peet at alistair.peet@energiekontor.com.
