The proposal would comprise of up to 12 turbines with a maximum tip height of 200m and a generating capacity of up to 79.2 MW, along with associated infrastructure. The Site would have an operation lifespan of 35 years, after which the Site will be decommissioned.
The Site is centred at approximately OS Grid Reference 245925, 599350, located immediately north of Loch Finlas and approximately 1.5km west of Loch Doon. The topography of the site is undulating. The application site comprising of upland moorland, with a small number of areas of woodland. The Site is principally used for grazing.
There are a number of wind farms, either operational, approved or within the planning system, within the surrounding area. Most notable of these are the operational Dersalloch Wind Farm, with 23 turbines up to 125m to tip located approximately 4.5km north-west of the Site and the operational South Kyle Wind Farm which is located approximately 8km north-east of the Site and comprises 50 turbines at 150m m to tip. Benbrack Wind Farm, currently under construction, is located approximately 7km east of the Site and comprises 15 turbines up to 150m to tip.
