Electricity Buyers - PPAs

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a contract that allows a corporate to buy electricity (and the associated green certificates) direct from one of our wind farms.

Our PPA experience

EnergieKontor have significant experience of corporate PPAs, having agreed 11 since 2011.

Benefits of a PPA

  • Enhances Sustainability & Brand Messaging - purchasing direct from a new incremental renewable generation asset demonstrates a corporate’s commitment to reducing their demand on carbon emitting electricity;
  • Carbon Reporting – the Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin certificates (REGOs), which confirm the source of renewable power, are issued to a corporate helping them to quickly meet their emission reduction goals;
  • Long Term Price Hedge - a PPA allows a corporate to negotiate a long-term fixed electricity price that provides some insulation against volatile wholesale electricity prices; and
  • Support National & Local Climate Change Policy – a PPA helps to accelerate the pace of renewable energy deployment in the UK
