The site is located approximately 800m south of the existing 3 turbine (100m tip height) Lairg Wind Farm on land at Leathad Creagach and Ruigh na Cup, approximately 4km southeast of Lairg, Sutherland. In October 2021 a tip height increase for Lairg II Wind Farm was consented by The Highland Council. The consent is comprised of a 10-turbine scheme, with 5 turbines up to 200m tip height, 2 turbines up to 190m tip height, and 3 turbines up to 150m tip height.
