The Margree wind farm proposal is located Approximately 6km north east of St Johnβs Town of Dalry, in Dumfries & Galloway. The approved development will consist of 9 turbines with tip heights of up to 220m above ground level. The development would be operational for a 40 year period, after which the turbines would be removed and the site restored.
1) Initial planning application was for 9 turbines, with tip height of 200m, with access tracks and other associated infrastructure, which was consented by the Dumfries & Galloway council on 4th August 2021 (ref: 20/2085/Ful)
2) Application to extend the lifespan of the Margree site from 35 years to 40 years was consented in 1st July 2025 (ref: 25/0193/S42).
3) Application to allow changes to the ancillary infrastructure outwith the consented micrositing allowance and to increase the micrositing allowance to 130m to facilitate the development of the wind turbines. Consented in 28th August 2025 (ref: 25/0218/S42).
4) Final application to allow an alternative micrositing allowance and ancillary infrastructure layout, and to increase the proposed turbine tip height to 220m. Consented in 29th September 2025 (ref: 25/0825/S42).
