The proposal would comprise of up to 9 turbines with a maximum tip height of 200m and a generating capacity of up to 60 MW, along with associated infrastructure. The Site would have an operation lifespan of 35 years, after which the Site will be decommissioned.
The Site is centred at approximately OS Grid Reference 228472, 614891, located approximately 4km south west of Ayr and comprises of commercial forestry and open moorland. The Site sits between the A77 (3.2km to the east) and the A719 (1.2km to the west). The Site lies within the Carrick Hills on an area at approx. 230-260m AOD set between Brown Carrick Hill (287m AOD) to the north and Knowside Hill (282m) to the south. As a result of the topography, views across the hills at high level are often extensive, whilst views from lower elevations surrounding the Site, including the settlements, can be contained. The nearest larger settlements are Ayr (4km north east), Dalrymple (6km east) and Maybole (9km south). Fisherton and Dunure both lie within 2km to the west and the surrounding landscape is scattered with farms and other rural dwellings.
