Energiekontor are proposing a solar farm within the site of our operational New Rides Wind Farm, on the Isle of Sheppey. The solar panels are to be located on approximately 12.3 ha of agricultural land and have an approximate installed capacity of 10MWp. Energiekontor, with the support of specialist consultants, have prepared a suite of environmental, technical and planning information for the proposed solar farm. This information forms part of the planning application which has been submitted to Swale Borough Council for determination.
Energiekontor submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Screening Request to Swale Borough Council in August 2020 for an initial layout. The local authority responded with their EIA Screening Opinion in September 2020 and concluded that the project is not likely to result in significant environmental effects, therefore is not considered EIA development and an Environmental Statement is not required.
Due to restrictions on public gatherings due to COVID-19, public consultation has been conducted through other means, including online. Information submitted as part of the Planning Application is available to download on this page or from the Council’s planning portal.
